The Pastor and WWAID (What Would AI Do?)

Back in February, Jon Harris and I talked about my maybe doing a piece on artificial intelligence for TruthScript. I was jammed at the moment, with a couple of other writing projects and full-time teaching at New Saint Andrews College in Moscow, Idaho. He kindly gave me until summer to come up with something, and this gave me the chance to scan and gather material on the subject. As I looked around, I was overwhelmed with references, reflections, celebrations, cautions, guidelines, etc. re AI. It seemed that most everyone was writing and speaking about it. It wasn't until I read a copy of the Tennessee SBC newspaper, Baptist and Reflector, that my focus narrowed. The editor had devoted an issue to exploring AI's connection to church/pastoral life. That gave me direction for this article, and it prompted me to add on some suggestions for building one's vocabulary and honing communication skills. (And yes, I'm still a work in progress on those fronts.)
